Hope for Families

The Hope for families project 

 

has been helping unprivileged families since 1988.

 

Our focus is to help and support children and youth from unprivileged families to get an education. We want to give them an equal opportunity to education and improve their quality of life. Hope for families workes in North, North-East and Central Thailand.

Objectives

  • Support children and youths by providing scholarships from kindergarten to high school level education. The support covers school fees, uniforms, books etc.

  • Support university students with their study fees.

  • Distribute funds for school lunches and daily travel expenses from home to school.

  • Milk support funds powder milk for newborns to four-year-olds to build up their physical health.

 

Background

Senior citizens 

 

In 2013 we also established work with marginalized, low-income senior citizens and HIV-positive persons. Our multinational team works weekly together with the ELCT congregations and organizes events targeted at the beneficiaries, with new beneficiaries found through local pastors. 

 

Our holistic approach takes into account the changes in the needs of the rapidly growing elderly population.We support and maintain the family and other social relationships, improve their living conditions, ensure adequate healthy nutrition and facilitate communication with the authorities. Home visits are an important part of the work. The team takes care of for example escorting beneficiaries to their doctor’s appointments or replacing the old squatting toilet with the new sitting model.

 

This multifaceted approach improves the self-worth and self-esteem of the beneficiaries. Without this safety net, our target groups would find themselves overwhelmed as their physical and mental capacities diminish. Thank you for supporting our vision and work.

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Thailand (ELCT) has done diaconal work since the church was established in 1994.This work has been carried out under the name of the Lutheran Christian Foundation.
